I am extending the chapter on the blog named "Great Artist '. I have a few of my favourites, so from time to time I will share them with you. Today, the shooting goes to my favourite Korean artist - G-Dragon. A member of the band Big Bang. I mentioned GD before on the blog. Before I was talking about is fashion style. A few words about the artist:
The nickname G-Dragon really comes from the name of the artist (full name Kwon Ji-Yong). The first part of "Ji" is pronounced like the letter "G", and Yong in Korean means dragon. The singer was born on 18th of August 1988 in Busan (South Korea) where he also grow up.
Career path:
GD is really talented at several levels of music, as well as beyond. Not only he is the leader of the popular Korean band - Big Bang, in which he is rapping, singing, writing lyrics or creating sounds. A 28-year-old man is also trying his strength as a producer - helping other artists. G-Dragon is also very well known for his fashion sense as that is appreciated all over the world. He also participated in campaigns including fashion master - Karl Lagerfeld.
GD began his musical career already as a 5-year-old in a band Little Roo'Ra. Unfortunately, the group did not survive for too long. After releasing the Christmas album the label decided to disband the group. Three years later, the musician came under the wing of the label SM Entertainment, where he trained as a dancer. After a few years, the boy was still not sure if dancing is what he would do in the future and at age 13 he decided to leave the label.
In the next few years, a teenager was still trying to find his place in the music market, and in the end, he went to one of the largest record company nowadays- YG Entertainment. It was a shot in the 10-tuple. A young boy could develop his skills there and hone his talents. This went on for the next 6 years, after which CEO Yang Hyun Suk, decided to create a boy band called Big Bang. History of the formation of the band could be watched in the Big Bang Documentary. The debut of 5 gifted artists (G-Dragon, T.O.P., Taeyang, Daesung, Seungri) had in 2006 and form to this day.
In 2009, GD decided to try his luck as a solo artist and released his first album, which he called "Heartbreaker." It was a really good move because the album was sold very well and received many awards.
The next step in the musical career of G-Dragon was a collaboration with his teammate, great rapper T.O.P. (Which also will appear on the blog one day). The boys released the album GD & T.O.P. at the end of 2010. Two years later, GD released its first EP - "One of the kind", which was also met many good reviews. His second solo album called Coup D'Etat was issued in 2013.
Summary:
Why do I like G-Dragon? Because I appreciate original and hard-working artists, and GD certainly belongs to this group. Virtually every piece that he created is the hit in my taste and is stay with me for a longer time.
